Professor Jerzy Lewandowski was one of the most prominent Polish physicists specializing in gravity, both in its classical and quantum aspects. He was internationally recognized primarily as one of the founders of loop quantum gravity. Professor Jerzy Lewandowski was the head of the Department of Relativity and Gravity at the University of Warsaw and remained scientifically active even in the face of illness.

In his passing, we lost a brilliant academic and a kindhearted colleague, whose assistance and dedication we could always count on.
